The left-wing lawmaker, who is listed as a member of the Senate Democratic caucus, accused the party of abandoning the working class.

“Unbelievably, real inflation-adjusted weekly wages for the average American worker are actually lower now than they were 50 years ago,” he said in the statement. “Despite an explosion of technology and labor productivity, many young people today will have a worse standard of living than their parents.”

“Despite spending far more per capita than other countries, today we are still the only wealthy country that does not guarantee health care as a human right for all and we pay by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. We alone among the big countries cannot even guarantee paid family and medical leave,” he claimed.

“Today, despite strong opposition from a majority of Americans, we continue to spend billions to finance the extremist Netanyahu government’s all-out war against the Palestinian people, which has led to the horrific humanitarian disaster of mass malnutrition and starvation of thousands of children.” senator stated in the statement.
