Bethenny Frankel mocks Drew Barrymore for sensitive interview with Martha Stewart

Bethenny Frankel slammed Drew Barrymore for being too touchy while interviewing Martha Stewart.

On Tuesday (November 13), the Charlie’s angels star made headlines after she asked the famously aloof chef why she felt “soft and sticky” while stroking her forearm during her hit talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show. In the blink of an eye as viewers shouted “awkward” and “cringey,” Stewart responded by playfully pushing Barrymore away.

In a clip shared to TikTok on Tuesday night, Frankel chimed in with her two cents as she could barely contain her laughter.

“I can’t do that,” she began with a grin. “I’ve tried, but I can’t, because what makes Martha Stewart soft and gooey are Ghiradelli’s chocolate brownies, her pre-prison net worth, and the fact that Drew Barrymore’s paw was taken off her back.”

“Because Martha Stewart is not touchy, nor soft and tacky,” Frankel added.

Many fans in the comments section seemed to agree with Frankel’s response.

“That clip made me want to crawl out of my skin,” one user admitted, while another said: “That clip was SO hard to watch… I walked backwards watching it.”

Others chimed in, calling Stewart “the ice queen.”

In the interview, Barrymore and Stewart had been discussing Stewart’s latest cookbook, her 100th, when Barrymore leaned in and asked why she felt “soft and gooey.” Stewart responded, “Soft and sticky treatment,” prompting Barrymore to come closer, pat Stewart’s back and caress her arm.

With an eyebrow raised, Stewart looked directly at the audience before joking: “You’re the wrong gender,” causing Barrymore to dramatically fall back onto the sofa in mock defeat.

“I know!” Barrymore joked. “Whatever happens with men, Martha, I’m not so sure anymore.”

Barrymore, known for her affectionate interview style, has previously acknowledged her ‘sensitive’ reputation. In September, she admitted that she is working on “physical closeness” with guests, but is finding it difficult to break the habit, despite being “shocked” by feedback calling her “too touchy.”

Meanwhile, Frankel is sharing stories about her own complicated history with Stewart on TikTok, including anecdotes from her time as runner-up The student: Martha Stewart in 2005.

In her TikTok series, Frankel described the relationship as complex and “far from friendly,” even recalling Stewart calling her a “pest” on her now-defunct talk show.

However, Frankel acknowledged the mutual respect they share, saying, “I’ve always respected her work ethic… and whether she likes to admit it or not, she feels the same way about me.”
