Bishop TD Jakes suffered a medical emergency during his sermon on Sunday.

“O Lord, my strength, my savior, let them go in peace,” the 67-year-old pastor said just before dropping his microphone and going silent.

Jakes then began to involuntarily shake in his seat before the people around him rushed over to offer support.

People were heard saying “back up” and “give him some space” when the livestream video was interrupted. A voice off camera then asked those in the church and online viewers to “start praying.”

Page Six reached out to Jakes’ team for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Shortly after the incident occurred, Jakes’ team took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update on the pastor’s condition.

“During today’s service, Bishop TD Jakes suffered a minor health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement said.

“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”

Immediately after the incident, several fans online speculated that Jakes had suffered a stroke, but his team did not reveal what actually happened.

“Bishop TD Jakes had a medical emergency during today’s service. Not sure if it was a stroke,” one supporter wrote.

“That’s a stroke,” claimed another, while a separate supporter wrote: “Thoughts and prayers out to him and his family. 🙏🏾.”

Meanwhile, a third were surprised Jakes gave a sermon at all.

“I thought he had stopped preaching,” they wrote.

A fourth netizen then called the incident “so sad” and commented on how long it took for those around Jakes to realize what was happening.

“I was looking at this. So sad. It took them a minute to realize he was having a health emergency. 🙏🏾,” they wrote.

The health emergency took place at The Potter’s House, in Dallas, where Jakes is a pastor.

Jakes founded the “non-denominational, multicultural church” in 1996 and the church’s website states they have more than 30,000 members.

The church claims to “bring together the homeless, the homeless, and other walks of life to worship and serve together in one or more of 59 different ministries.”
