‘Blue Wall’ Election Results: Track Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin

As former President Donald Trump works toward the 270 electoral votes needed for another presidential term, all eyes in Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign are on the crucial “blue wall” trifecta.

The blue wall refers to the collection of states whose electoral votes often went to the Democratic presidential candidate. Trump red flagged three in 2016: Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. And in 2020, the trio turned blue again and went to President Joe Biden.

The three most important states, which together account for 44 electoral votes, have yet to be called for Harris or Trump in the 2024 race. Winning the three states would likely bring both candidates to the 270-vote electoral threshold needed to win the White House.

With Trump’s victory in the battleground state of North Carolina, the Republican candidate becomes the first candidate to win a swing state on Tuesday evening. He also scored victories in Republican strongholds such as Florida and Ohio, while Harris found success in several states on the East Coast, including Maryland and New York.

Keep track of the results of the “blue wall” trifecta here as votes continue to be counted on Wednesday.
