Vice President Kamala Harris successfully challenged former President Trump several times during Tuesday’s presidential debate on ABC, causing him to see red and veer off course, according to body language expert Susan Constantine.

Tuesday’s debate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the first time Trump and Harris shared the stage. Commentators said it was a good night for Harris, though Trump has had better performances.

That was partly because Harris provoked reactions from Trump, who became increasingly frustrated and angry as the evening progressed.

Constantine tells Fox News Digital that Harris was aware of Trump’s weaknesses, such as questioning the size of his rallies, and when she brought it up, he responded in a stubborn manner, to his own detriment.

“He fell for every one of her games; they were all tactics,” Constantine says. “So when she poked the bear, he growled back and she kept poking the bear, and especially when it came to, of course, the crowd.”

Harris said that people at Trump’s rallies often leave early out of exhaustion and boredom. Trump responded by saying that his rallies draw record-breaking crowds, while Harris buses people to her rallies and pays them to attend.

“She knew all of his weaknesses and he defended them instead of answering the question and just staying focused. He spent most of his time trying to hit her back with the ball and defending himself, which was not a good approach,” Constantine said.

“You could see Trump getting really, really angry about it. At one point he just dropped his shoulders, dropped his head, and he just slumped. And then you see the upper lip (moving up really quickly). It was a micro-expression of leakage, of hatred and disgust and contempt… he was really angry at her for saying that.”

Constantine says Trump was angry for a reason. He noted that Harris made a lot of derogatory remarks and that he could no longer control the discussion after being egged on by Harris. Her smile reflected her realization that she had backed the former president into a corner.

“You could see his anger, the tone of his voice, his eyebrows raised or his lips pursed. He was angry. You could even hear a lot of it in his voice,” she explains. “His lips were pressed together most of the time. He was suppressing a lot of his own feelings for her, which was anger. All that did was feed Harris, because she knew she had him. That’s why you kept seeing the smiles. And every time she had him … she rewarded herself with a big, permanent smile.”

Constantine says Harris’ smiles were often insincere and unusually long. Harris also did this to provoke Trump, smiling as a fallback when she disagreed with things Trump said, Constantine said.

“Real smiles don’t last longer than the longest four seconds. If someone holds that smile and does it the whole time, that’s condescending, and what she’s doing is she’s also taking away from what Trump is saying and (that) is covered up with the permanent smile. That’s not authentic,” Constantine explains. “If she wants to downplay what Trump is saying, she’s smiling the whole time or even laughing at it.”

According to Constantine, there was a clear distinction between the two candidates: Trump with a more serious tone, Harris seemed more cheerful.

At first, Harris would often throw her head back and almost hold her head up, which Constantine described as a “position of superiority.” She would wrinkle her nose and cross her arms to evaluate.

“It was condescending and also self-righteous. Not a good move,” Constantine says.

Constantine says Harris made her hand movements very graphic and looked straight into the camera so she knew exactly how to frame her gestures.

“She spoke to the American people. She played the card perfectly musically in many ways. So I think she had a lot of coaching.”

Constantine says Harris stepped out of line when she stumbled over whether she supports restrictions on women’s right to abortion.

“She was avoiding that question because she couldn’t really answer,” she explains. “So when her eyes go down, she starts doing the bobblehead. And that was a cluster of cheating.”

Constantine also praised Harris for her handshake before the debate, saying the vice president had stepped into Trump’s room to engage him in conversation.

“She paused. She almost hesitated a little bit, but then she went for it… So I’m going to give her a point for that,” Constantine says. “Overall… it was definitely a boxing match. They were completely on opposite sides of course. There was no love on Trump’s part, and I think Harris used that to her advantage and trapped Donald Trump.”
