Many insiders and fans believed that there was a possibility that Theodore had been moved this past offseason. Once Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson came in, it increased the likelihood that Theodore would re-sign with the Golden Knights.

The organization prides itself on being one of the best defensive teams and having one of the best blue lines in the NHL, and Theodore plays a crucial role. The deal reflects the great relationship the Golden Knights and Theodore have had.
