Breeders’ Cup Horse Racing 2024: Day Two – Live | Breeder’s cup

Important events

An outright victory for the favorite, who quickly took the lead and would probably never give it up again.

Part

BREEDER’S CUP RESULT:

1. THORPEDO ANNA, 2. Raging sea, 3. Candied.

Part

Raging sea, the Personal Ensign winner at Saratoga, is the only rival to cash in to beat the favorite:

Two outsiders have ended up at the top of the Breeders’ Cup card here, and local bettors are hoping for some reprieve if Thorpedo Anna leaves for the Distaff in five minutes. She is a red-hot favorite at 1-5, not least because Idiomatic, who was expected to give her plenty to think about, was excluded from the race last week. She has the form to back up the short odds, though, having finished second to Fierceness – the big US-trained fan for the Classic – in the Travers Stakes, and has won all five of her other starts this year, four at Grade One level .

This is her victory in the American Oaks at Saratoga in the summer:

Rossa Ryan is located in the interview room:

It was just one of those days where luck was on my side and it all started so well.

Part

I hear Ryan Moore has bruises, but he can ride City Of Troy fine in the Classic.

Part

It’s official, Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan have added a Breeders’ Cup victory to their Arc success last month, and Europe is 4-4 on the field so far!

Part

RESULT OF THE BREEDERS’ CUP TURF SPRINT:

1. STARLUST, 2. Motor, 3. AG Bullet.

Part

There’s also no word yet on whether Ryan Moore is doing well after being unpacked by Believing before that race. He will be aboard City Of Troy in the Classic in less than two hours.

Part

KEEP ALL TICKETS! The preliminary result is that Starlust beat Motorious, AG Bullet and Star Of Mystery, but Rossa Ryan moved to the right and bumped unseeded Isivunguvungu within the final furlong.

Part

That’s a beautiful ride over Rossa Ryan on by Ralph Beckett outsider – but there is an investigation!

Part

Bradsell chased into second place on the turn, but Tooth burn leads, he is clearly…

Cogburn three turns inside and starts to tire… deep into the final furlong Cogburn gives in and Starlust come through to win!

On the road in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint!

Part

They removed Believing’s saddle very quickly and she was led away. Starts reloading.

Part

To believe has been scratched and the tokens have been removed from the gate.

Part

Ryan Moore believed he was playing in the stalls and sat down.

Part

Heading to the gate for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, the Europeans were three of three on the turf yesterday, so can they extend the streak?

Part

Big EVs, who is ranked 11 is currently 18-1 on the local bag, with Bradsel, which is the widest of all in 12, with single odds of 8-1. Cogburn, meanwhile, is at 4-5 to repeat its blitz in Saratoga, with Charlie Appleby’s Star of mystery – a fixture in the North American turf sprints this year, but with only one win, in a grade 3 at Saratoga, which also attracted support.

I think I’m right when I say that Tooth burn was the first horse ever to go under 60 seconds on that course at Saratoga. It’s a somewhat unusual journey, yet plenty before him have tried it.

Bradsel And Big EVs will be well known to European fans, and their riders, Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand, obviously know each other very well, having tied the knot in 2022. Both the horses and their riders were at Nunthorpe in York in August. , where Bradsell emerged victorious To believe, who is also in the field here, in second place.

Wi-Fi has returned for now, so fingers crossed. It’s 20 minutes to post time for the Turf sprint, which brings a strong challenge from Europe – Big EVs, believe me And Bradsel are the headliners – against a top-notch US-trained sprinter in Steve Asmussen’s Tooth burn. The Americans called him ‘the fastest horse in the world’ after he broke the track record in the Jaipur at Saratoga:

Part

The final stoppage came just as the Filly & Mare Sprint was approaching its climax, and what a finish it turned out to be. Scylla And Ways and means were among the horses to take the four-way lead into the final furlong… alone for Soul of an angel, who missed the kick and almost stopped after a furlong, only to round them all for an upset victory.

Part

Please accept my apologies for the frequent service interruptions at this time. It is not the first time that the richest and most powerful country in the world has apparently been unable to organize a stable Wi-Fi connection in the media room for a global sporting event.

Ways And Means moves with the lead

Part

Society and Scylla almost in the lead, an opening quarter of less than 22 seconds

Part

Out and running in the Breeders Cup Foal and Mare Sprint!

Part

They’re heading towards the gates, Vahva And Scylla, featuring driving legend Mike Smith, are also popular with punters.

Part

Steve Asmussen’s Society is next in the bet, she won the Ballerina disability at Saratoga last time:

Part

We’ve been racing here since dawn – American fans feel shortchanged by just under a dozen races on a card – but the Breeders’ Cup racing starts in about 20 minutes with the Filly & Mare Sprint over seven furlongs .

The likely favorite here is Ways and means, a grade one winner at Saratoga in August who is riding a three-race winning streak.

A little bit about Del Mar. This is a beautiful and historic circuit, co-founded by the legendary crooner and turf fan, Bing Crosbywho stood at the gate on opening day in July 1937 to personally hand out the first ticket. The current season here, which runs until December 1, is officially the ‘Bing Crosby’ season, and this is a song eager to recognize and celebrate its place in racing history.

It was the scene of a famous match race between the great Seabiscuit and Ligaroti, a year after its opening…

Seabiscuit vs. Ligaroti

…and there are displays, photos and old posters on the walls of the stand – did you know that? Betty Grabel was an avid racehorse owner and fan here? In the meantime, anyone who really wants to delve deep into Del Mar’s past should check out this page on their website, which goes through the decades in detail.

Preamble

Hello from Del Mar Race Course, 20 miles north of San Diego in Southern California: where “the grass meets the surf” and also where City of Troy will try to make history in the Breeders’ Cup Classic later this afternoon, in the middle of the nine-race main card of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup.

When the gates open at around 9.41pm GMT, we can expect the most intense and compelling two minutes of racing action this year, and perhaps for many years to come, as the Derby winner attempts to complete an unprecedented double with victory in America’s most prestigious and valuable breed of all ages.

Fifteen horses from Aidan O’Brien’s stable have attempted to win the Classic, but none have had the mix of pedigree, class and racing style that City Of Troy will bring to its first (and last) race on dirt today. Whether that will be enough to make 16e time happiness is a mystery, but Forever young, from Japan, and Ferocity, The great US-trained hope will be among the seasoned opponents looking to exploit any hesitation from the start.

City Of Troy’s run in the Classic was always going to be the focus of today’s events, but there are of course eight more races to think about, including four on the field where the European runners completed a 3-3 clean sweep had. Friday.

Bradsel And Big Evof Hollie Doyle and her husband, Tom Strikingon board, will leave the outdoor boxes for the Turf Sprint at 19.41 GMT respectively, while Romance of the Rebels And Emily Upjohn, with Frankie Dettori in the plate, headline the bet for the Grass at 21.01. And once the Classic is done and dusted, there’s still time to perform the Classic Filly & Mare Turf (22.25) and the MilesWhere remarkable speech, the winner of the 2,000 Guineas is expected to start as favourite.

It was a promising start for the Europeans on Friday, but there is still a lot of work to be done on Saturday before this can be considered a good weekend for the visitors. JapanHe will also look for a winner or two from the remaining runners in his unusually strong team before the meeting.

It’s going to be a thrilling ride with no doubt one or three big surprises along the way, and the Breeders’ Cup action will get underway at 7pm GMT with the Foal & Mare Sprint. Once we’re underway the action will be brutal, but stay tuned for video previews of all nine races, live results, betting odds, post-race quotes and more.

For racing fans everywhere, it’s time…
