Brock Purdy injury: Could 49ers QB miss Buffalo Bills game in Week 13?

The San Francisco 49ers will play Brandon Allen at quarterback in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers. The team’s starting quarterback, Brock Purdy, was ruled out late in the week due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the team’s 20–17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

There is optimism that Purdy will be ready to play against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, but based on an update from NFL insider Jay Glazer on Sunday, there appears to be some uncertainty.

“He hurt his arm last week against Seattle,” Glazer said on FOX’s NFL pregame show. “On Monday they gave him an MRI. It showed a shoulder sprain. He practiced on Tuesday (and) Wednesday. They thought he was at the right pace there. Thursday he went out and tried to throw (and) it just kept connecting with him. So what no one knows is that they gave him another MRI on Thursday, but it showed nothing else. So they’re kind of wondering when he’ll get back there. They’re just going to rehab it and hope he comes back next week. They just don’t know right now.”

The 49ers have been the class of the NFC for the past five years, appearing in the NFC Championship Game in four of the past five seasons. This year, however, injuries have taken their toll on the team. They enter Week 12 with a 5-5 record.

Whether Purdy plays or not, the quarterback likely won’t be at 100 percent when they head to Highmark Stadium next week to play the Bills on Sunday Night Football.
