The Chargers host the Ravens on Monday night, two teams Vrabel is familiar with as the Browns have already played both this season.

Vrabel, a Northeast Ohio native, was fired last January after six seasons with the Titans and, after failing to land a new head coaching job, joined the Browns this season as a coaching and personnel consultant.

Vrabel has been a visible presence during practices and recently during games for the Browns. He stood on the sidelines with an earpiece in, and did so for the first time last Sunday in New Orleans.

“Vrabes is involved in a lot of what we do,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier this week. “He’s there for home games, he was able to come to this one. He listens to our conversations. He is a great resource for me during the games Monday through Friday, so he will continue to do that.”

Vrabel, 49, went 54-45 with the Titans and made three playoff appearances, including a run to the AFC Championship Game in 2019. He was named coach of the year in 2021.

He built a reputation as a smart tactician and had a tendency to sometimes punch undermanned Tennessee teams above their weight.

Vrabel is a former player and three-time Super Bowl champion who played high school football at Walsh Jesuit in Cuyahoga Falls. He excels in dealing with players and does not shy away from doing exercises during training.

His appearance on the Manningcast will put him back in the national spotlight and will likely boost his bid to jump back into coaching.
