Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered an apparent right leg injury during the second quarter of the Week 7 NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday.

The Browns confirmed via Twitter early in the third quarter that Watson had suffered an Achilles injury.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Watson is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles tendon, which would likely end his season.

It was a non-contact injury when Watson planted his foot with 1:22 left in the first half.

“You see the buckle on his leg, my goodness,” CBS play-by-play announcer Spero Dedes said during the broadcast.

“Definitely a tough scene to watch with Deshaun Watson,” said CBS color analyst Adam Archuleta.

“I don’t have an update yet,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told CBS early in the second half about Watson’s injury. “It obviously didn’t look good.”

Watson was emotional as he was carted off the field.

Watson was replaced at QB by Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round pick of the Browns in 2023. Jameis Winston was inactive. Thompson-Robinson was promoted from Cleveland’s No. 3 QB to Watson’s backup prior to Sunday’s game.

Thompson-Robinson played in eight games last season, including three starts. He had not played this season before Watson’s injury on Sunday.

Thompson-Robinson led the Browns to their first score of the game, a 1-yard touchdown run by Nick Chubb shortly after replacing Watson.

Watson is in his third season with Cleveland after playing his first four NFL seasons for the Houston Texans.

After Watson finished last Sunday’s loss to Philadelphia with 168 passing yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Cleveland was sticking with Watson as the starter.

Through six games this season, Watson had 1,020 passing yards with five TDs and three INTs, with a quarterback rating of 22.3.
