Rodeo is one of the most historic forms of North American pageantry and is still practiced today. It showcases the raw skill, determination, teamwork and danger that was so prevalent in the colonization of our country so many years ago. Today’s rodeo performances by cowboys and cowgirls continue to showcase those skills and talents in an effort to preserve the culture and quality of the North American cowboy!

After more than 20 successful years as organizers of the annual Essex County Rodeo, the owners of Sun Parlour Rodeo have decided to retire and turn the reins over to Trimble Farms Cattle Company in Kingsville.

In partnership with Rawhide Rodeo, this weekend marked the launch of the inaugural Kingsville Pro Rodeo. Rawhide Rodeo has been producing rodeos and rodeo-related events for over three decades. It has grown from a small professional rodeo company to one of the largest and most accredited in the world, now producing over 100 rodeo performances annually internationally. As a company, Rawhide Rodeo delivers the product of rodeo to millions of people each year, giving them a taste of the history and culture that makes up our country.

This weekend’s event was a success with everything from Bullriding to Barrel Racing to Steer Roping. There was even a mechanical bull in the beer tent for those who wanted to try it. The rodeo was attended by top pros, local enthusiasts and a few beginners.

There was a huge beer tent with live music, a wide variety of food stalls and a large selection of swag vendors. With acres of free parking in the farm field, the entrance and exit to the event was smooth and hassle-free.

With three shows over the weekend, the event was an exciting and unique family entertainment experience, with children getting the chance to ride a pony, climb on real farm machinery or just plan in a giant sandpit.

There were some hiccups with the over enthusiastic security staff but I’m sure this event will be a highlight of summer fun for years to come!!
