Chappell Roan boasted all the glitz and glamor of a true Midwest princess in an unforgettable performance Saturday evening live.

The 26-year-old synth-pop star appeared as a musical guest on the Nov. 2 episode of the sketch comedy show, which was hosted by comedian John Mulaney.

In a performance marked by elaborate, colorful and fun sets and costumes, Roan was introduced by Mulaney, 42, for her first song of the evening, her hit “Pink Pony Club.”

Dressed in a shimmering white floor-length dress, the singer wore a voluminous red wig with silver streaks and bold eye makeup as she began the song, sitting on a throne-like chair.

The set featured an altar-like structure draped in material and bows, as well as projections of pink ponies galloping on screen on the walls behind. Roan’s band also wore striking, sparkling outfits and striking wigs.

This time, the singer wore a pink and white gingham bralette with lapels and a center tie, as well as matching shorts and cowboy boots. while her band and backup singers featured a similar country theme.

The fun set included plants, faux stone pillars and stairs, and trees projected onto the walls, which became visible when the theater curtains rose after Roan started singing.

Earlier this year, on June 20, Roan graced the stage of another NBC property, The tonight showwith a technicolor performance of her instant hit “Good Luck, Babe!”

Roan’s lively show comes after she embarked on the Midwest Princess Tour for her debut album, The rise and fall of a Midwestern princess.

The singer recently canceled his tour appearances in Europe in early September. After two more show cancellations at the All Things Go festival, Roan revealed that her fame had become overwhelming overnight and she needed time to prioritize her mental health.

Roan’s name last appeared on SNL in Bowen Yang’s September 28 sketch, which commented on the impact of fame on Roan’s mental health and sparked controversy among fans. While some believed that Yang, dressed as viral baby pygmy hippo Moo Deng, was supporting Roan, others viewed the sketch as a mockery.

“Leave her alone! Let her take as much time as she needs for her mental health. We both deserve patience and mercy, so stop harassing her and stop throwing shellfish at her,” said Yang’s Moo Deng .

Yang made it clear the next day that the sketch supported Roan. “If my personal position and the piece aren’t absolutely clear in terms of support, then I guess that’s what it is,” Yang wrote in an Instagram Story. “Everything she’s ever asked for has been reasonable and even then we can connect it to another story about boundaries or whatever.”

Saturday evening live airs Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET on NBC.
