The first pitch of Game 1 of the American League Championship Series is Monday at 7:38 PM, when the No. 2 Guardians take on the No. 1 New York Yankees at the (new) Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees have had a few days of rest after beating the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in their series. The Guardians are fresh off an emotional Game 5 win over the Detroit Tigers, with Progressive Field literally shaking as Lane Thomas rounded the bases on a grand slam home run.

The Yankees put runners on the corners with two outs for Gleyber Torres, who grounded into a force out that ended the inning. The Yankees have already stranded four runners tonight. Alex Cobb hasn’t looked particularly sharp, but he’s kept the Yankees off the board, and that’s what matters for Cleveland.

The Guardians singled again in the second inning, this one by Jhonkensy Noel, but Rodon again worked around it to retire the side.

The Guardians and Yankees move to the bottom of the second, still looking for the first run of the series.

Alex Cobb got into trouble in the first inning and then got out of trouble again.

Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto led off the first inning with back-to-back singles, but Cobb recovered nicely, striking out Aaron Judge and getting Giancarlo Stanton to fly out to left field with two outs.

David Fry singled off Yankees lefty Carlos Rodon and later advanced to second base on a wild pitch, but the Guardians couldn’t bring him home as Rodon struck out Lane Thomas to end the first inning .
