Clips of Joe Rogan opposing Donald Trump go viral after approval

Videos of Joe Rogan opposing Donald Trump and some of the policies he stands for are circulating on social media after the podcast host endorsed the former president.

The host of The Joe Rogan Experiencecurrently Spotify’s most popular podcast in the US, expressed support for Trump on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday evening. He quoted Elon Musk as “the most compelling case for Trump you will hear” and linked to his latest podcast episode with the entrepreneur.

Shortly afterwards, podcaster and YouTuber Kyle Kulinski posted a video to X, formerly Twitter, compiling clips of Rogan from his show expressing opinions that appear to contradict his support for Trump.

In the clip, which was first shared on the platform in 2022, Rogan could be heard praising Bernie Sanders and Michelle Obama and calling Barack Obama the “best president we’ve had in our lifetimes.”

He also said, “I have never voted right in my life” and called Trump “dangerous” in reference to the events of January 6, 2021.

Other clips showed Rogan expressing his support for universal basic income, free college education, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, universal healthcare and paying higher taxes.

He further expressed his opposition to two of Trump’s immigration policies: ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) policy that protects people brought to the U.S. illegally as children from deportation, and separating children from their parents at the border.

Kulinski’s post went viral, racking up 1.3 million views and 18,000 likes. Progressive commentator Mehdi Hasan was among thousands who shared the clip, which was viewed another 500,000 times.

A similar clip was shared by the account @PatriotTakes. It showed part of Rogan’s interview with comedian Tom Segura in July 2022, in which Rogan called Trump a “man baby” in response to accusations that his former adviser Jared Kushner had developed a system to deliver bad news to Trump as the New York Times reported in 2022.

The clip was viewed 323,000 times and received more than 6,000 likes.

Newsweek has reached out to Rogan and the Trump campaign via email after business hours for comment.

In his post on X promoting his interview with Musk, Rogan wrote: I agree with him every step of the way. For the record: yes, that is an expression of support for Trump.”

Trump responded in real time to Rogan’s endorsement at a campaign event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, calling it “big news” and saying “that’s so nice” as he “tends to be a little more liberal.”

Trump appeared on Rogan’s podcast on October 26 and JD Vance appeared on October 31. Rogan said he had been open to an episode with Kamala Harris, but it fell through when they couldn’t agree on the terms of the interview.
