I won’t lie, I gave up on today’s Connections pretty quickly. I got the first group of words down easy enough, but became obsessed with making the perfect dish and was convinced Connections was trying to trick me into thinking “sake” wasn’t the alcoholic beverage. In all of that, I missed the obvious Kobe and Magic NBA connections and don’t even get me started on the bullshit that last group is. Well done Connections, you fooled me again.

Congratulations if you got today’s Connections answer right, with or without the help of our handy hints above! And if you didn’t get it right today, don’t worry – a new Connections puzzle is released every day at midnight, so you can try again tomorrow, just like on Wordle.

What are connections?

Connections is one of the most popular daily puzzle games published by the New York Times (owners of Wordle). The goal of Connections is to group the 16 words of the day into four groups, with each group of four words having a common theme.

For example, the words “Hook”, “Nana”, “Peter”, and “Wendy” are all Peter Pan characters. Or to take another example, “Action”, “Ballpark”, “Go”, and “Stick” are all words that often appear just before the word “Figure”.

Your task is to figure out what these themes are that connect the different words – but be careful, because there are often red herring connections that are deliberately put in there to throw you off! To win the game, you must find all four connections without making 4 mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game is over and the answer is automatically revealed.

Each of the four groups in each day’s Connections puzzle is also assigned a different color, indicating how easy or difficult the Connection is to find. These colors are: Yellow (easiest), Green (easiest), Blue (medium), and Purple (hardest).
