Damian Lillard calls for accountability as Bucks struggle to find a rhythm

The Milwaukee Bucks are in the midst of a concerning 1-3 start to the season.

Under coach Doc Rivers, the Bucks fell to a modest 18-21 record after their most recent loss on Monday in Boston. When Rivers took over last January, the Bucks had a 32-14 record. Additionally, Milwaukee lost in the first round of the playoffs a season ago. Rivers’ seat is getting warmer.

Bucks star Damian Lillard recently acknowledged their early-season struggles in a comment about him and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s relationship: “Me and him have to be able to hold each other accountable, and I don’t mean yelling at each other all the time , just mean like I should be able to say something to you. And you should always be able to say something to me.”

“He’s always had to put his foot down in Milwaukee and kind of take the lead and kind of be the guy to push it forward. And that’s always been the way I’ve been in Portland. And I think now that we’re together are, we both have to look at it and say, ‘This is also a top-75 player.’ And I have to trust that he carries this with me. I think we both have to do that. After that, we have a chance.”

Khris Middleton still doesn’t have a timetable for his return from offseason ankle surgery, which hasn’t improved their situation. The Bucks need to find a solution quickly or the front office may be forced to make some tough decisions.

Plus, they could find themselves back in the coaching market less than a year after firing Adrian Griffin. The Bucks have a chance to end their three-game losing skid tonight in Memphis.
