Dancer and cheerleader at Los Osos High School was 17

Emily Gold, a contestant on the current season of America has talenthas died. She was 17.

The Los Osos High School student and her dance group reached the quarterfinals of the NBC reality competition earlier this year.

Gold was found dead under a bridge on the 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday, September 13. The San Bernardino coroner has ruled Gold’s death a suicide.

A GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of the Gold family, stating: “It is with great sadness that we share that our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away. Let us come together as a community and support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please know that these funds will go directly to the family to help support them and assist with expenses.”

“I am sad to share tragic news regarding a Grizzly. Early this morning, a senior and beloved Grizzly, Emily Gold, passed away,” Los Osos High School Principal Eric Cypher’s message to parents and students read. “Emily was a member of our Varsity Dance Team and Varsity Cheer Team, our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they grieve.”

The school indicated that counselors would be available for anyone who needed support.

The Los Osos High School dance group reached the quarterfinals and was eliminated on the episode that aired on August 14.
