Jalen Hurts shares heartfelt words with former Eagles teammate Jason Kelce: ‘I love you’

Jason Kelce may not be throwing footballs to Jalen Hurts anymore, but the former Philadelphia Eagles teammates still have a big crush on each other.

Kelce, who is now part of ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” team that covers the pre- and post-game, was back in Philly for the Eagles’ game against the Atlanta Falcons. He interviewed Hurts in what turned out to be a candid conversation.

Kelce immediately started the one-on-one interview by asking Hurts, “Do you miss me?”

“I do,” he replied, smiling, as Kelce celebrated. “I miss you though.”

But Hurts delved deeper into why he not only misses Kelce, but also has respect for the future Hall of Fame center for the way he helped him when he entered the league as a second-round pick of the Eagles in 2020.

“The one thing I respected about you was that you had a lot on your plate,” Hurts said. “You had a lot on your plate, you had a lot that you were responsible for. But you always did it for the guy next to you. That’s the one thing I’ll always respect, because that’s what it’s all about, being in that position, being the center of attention. “The underdog mentality, the underdog story, everything.”

While Kelce said, “I know,” addressing what his former quarterback had said, Hurts concluded his praise of the six-time All-Pro by saying, “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Kelce told Hurts.

Kelce went on to talk about new Eagle Saquon Barkley and how he’s adjusting to his new city and teammates, as well as why the “Tush Push” play didn’t work so well last week.

The quarterback sneak play is a staple for the Eagles, but Kelce, who was in the trenches weaving his way into the opposing defense to give Hurts a chance to get those crucial short yards, told the quarterback he doesn’t miss weaving his way into a defensive line anymore.

As the interview ended, Kelce and Hurts embraced, and another “I love you” was passed between the two. Kelce, however, had to stop himself after telling his quarterback to “go dominate.”

“I mean – don’t dominate. I’m independent,” Kelce said with a laugh.

“F— that. We know what time it is,” Hurts replied.

Kelce may now be in the media world, where neutrality is always the goal. But when you’ve just left the team you played for all 13 of your NFL seasons, it’s hard not to root for your former teammates.
