David Pastrnak feels this about Bruins after loss to Stars

After the Bruins lost their third straight game, head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters that the players’ “attitude is not about the moment,” but rather about the results.

David Pastrnak agreed that after consecutive losses, players begin to “squeeze” their sticks instead of focusing on the details. The Bruins star player admitted that it is up to the team to turn the tide.

“We can still say it’s early (in the season), but we know for sure we have to be much better,” Pastrnak told reporters, via team-provided audio. “I think that’s why you can see a bit of frustration in the team, because we expect the highest standard when we wear the Spoked-B. It’s an honor, so it’s a high standard here. So that’s definitely why you see the frustration, but it’s up to us, all the guys and leaders to bring it back and focus on the details and continue the winning streak.”

The Bruins extended their league-leading penalty total with five minor penalties in a 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. The Stars scored three power-play goals. Pastrnak was in the box for two of the three goals for Dallas. He has committed seven fouls in eight games this season.

‘There’s no doubt. I definitely took two penalties,” Pastrnak said of taking too many fouls in the loss. “I honestly can’t remember taking as many penalties in my career as I did this season. … I put the team in a deficit situation twice in one game. I definitely took too many penalties.”

Through the first eight games of the season, the Bruins have lost 88 minutes of manpower on their league-leading 44 minor penalties and have allowed nine power-play goals while shorthanded. Nikita Zadorov broke a seven-match streak by failing to take a penalty for the first time this season in Thursday night’s loss. The defender leads the team with nine fouls through eight games.
