Demand for 2024 Cat-Griz tickets is the highest ever

BOZEMAN — Cat-Griz takes place here at Bobcat Stadium, where 21,000 tickets have been sold. So if you haven’t gotten yours yet, you might be out of luck.

“We have a sold-out football game. We’re expecting a packed house here at Bobcat Stadium for Cat-Griz, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Montana State University (MSU) spokesperson Michael Becker.

According to data from Vivid Seats, this year’s demand for Cat-Griz tickets is the highest ever: the average retail price is $320. If you look online, resale prices range from $175 to $250.

4,100 tickets have been reserved for students, which are free if you can get them in time.

“It’s a queue. It’s random whether you get in there or not. The site actually crashed when we went to get tickets, so we had to wait there for 10 minutes without knowing if the site would come back online,” said MSU student Connor Brost.

As they talk to more students on campus, they say getting tickets can be quite an ordeal.

“Two computer screens open and a phone. I had signed up fifteen minutes earlier, it was intense,” Hannah Thomas remembers.

Becker says the student tickets disappeared in just 35 minutes.

“It happened very quickly and then it shut down and it said there were no tickets left. But then it came back and it took about five minutes before we got tickets,” said Katya Nederhouser.

If you’re one of the people who didn’t get tickets and can’t justify a hundreds-of-dollar ticket purchase, don’t worry: you can still see the action.

Becker says, “There are a number of viewing parties available. We’ve put a story up now on Montana.Edu. People can log in and there’s a link there to watch parties put on by the MSU Alumni Foundation.

And it’s probably safe to assume that most places with a TV will be broadcasting a game that could make history for the Bobcats.
