Deontay Wilder says he is still training and not walking away from boxing

Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder takes time to talk to TMZ about his intention to continue boxing after dealing with some personal issues outside the ring, and expresses his interest in a potential fight with Francis Ngannou. Check out what Wilder had to say below.

Wilder on whether he is still training for a boxing return

“We are still training. I broke my arm sometime in November and didn’t know it. I had two tears in my shoulders and stuff like that… I just thought it was old injuries and stuff so I never went there to get it checked out, I just thought I could go to my therapist and do some stuff could have it stretched, some cold needling in it and things like that. But when I found out about my very last one, I got an MRI and it was like everything was messed up and I didn’t know it because I had a high tolerance for pain.

About people thinking he’s a washed up fighter right now

“For me, the best is yet to come. I always say that. We’re still going, we’re still here, it’s just putting things together, man. I have a lot of things to take care of, I had a lot of outside distractions to get rid of, a lot of burden was on me. I was taking care of a lot of people, man, and it got to the point where I just couldn’t do it anymore. I have seven children of my own, I cannot take care of everyone.

“Even those closest to me, I have been betrayed. I have been betrayed to so many people, it has been a domino effect over the last five years. If anyone knows of betrayal, it is worse than a broken heart.”

About his interest in a fight with Francis Ngannou

“Even since I’ve been out and stuff like that, a lot of offers have come in, a lot of things, different countries and stuff like that… that’s a conversation I still want to get in the mix and talk about.”
