What this job can offer you

The Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for Payments is responsible for overseeing and managing compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., AML/CTF policies, sanctions), industry standards, and internal policies specific to the payments industry. This role includes developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, and mitigating risk within the payments ecosystem. The Director will also collaborate with regulators and lead efforts to align business practices with evolving payment regulations.

What you bring

  • Extensive experience in compliance, financial crime, regulation and fraud.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead a department and manage a team.
  • Relevant compliance qualifications such as ICA or equivalent certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of international compliance standards, regulatory requirements and fraud prevention strategies. Specific focus on European Union and UK payment regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote or hybrid work environment
  • Experience working with European regulators strongly preferred
  • Writes and speaks English fluently
  • Experience working remotely is not required, but is considered a plus

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures that align with international legal requirements.
  • Lead the compliance and regulatory functions for the organization’s entities and ensure they meet global standards and requirements.
  • Manage the teams that execute CDD/EDD and broader KYB and KYC processes and act as the primary escalation point
  • Ensure consistent oversight and governance across all entities to maintain high compliance standards.
  • Manage the global portfolio of compliance risks and proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and compliance with all legal obligations. Act as Compliance Officer / Risk Officer in Remote’s regulated jurisdictions
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
  • Lead the development and delivery of compliance training programs to educate employees on legal requirements and fraud prevention strategies.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on compliance status, risk assessments and fraud prevention activities to senior management and the Board of Directors.

At first glance, our pay ranges seem quite broad – here’s some context. At Remote, we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce. We use geographic ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in different markets while recruiting globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is between $135,900 and $152,900 USD. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base salary for the successful candidate in this role will depend on many factors, including location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demand. The base salary range is subject to change.
