Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ crowd sizes in Michigan compared

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris’ dueling rallies in Michigan were packed Saturday.

There are less than 10 days until the Nov. 5 presidential election, and supporters of Trump, the Republican candidate, and Harris, the Democratic candidate, in the battleground state of Michigan came out to cheer on the candidates.

Trump’s afternoon rally in Novi, about a 40-minute drive northwest of Detroit, was held at Suburban Collection Showplace. According to Getty photos and videos shared on social media, a large crowd was behind, in front of and to the sides of Trump’s stage.

Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, said this Newsweek via email Saturday evening, that the Novi rally was filled to “maximum capacity with thousands outside.”

Meanwhile, the booths at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo were filled Saturday evening during Harris’ rally with former first lady Michelle Obama, according to a video on social media. The floor was also packed with Harris supporters near her stage.

The size of the rally crowd has become a talking point during the elections. Harris’ campaign has repeatedly mocked the size of Trump’s rally crowd while boasting about the large number of attendees at the vice president’s events.

Meanwhile, Trump has insisted he is getting more attendance at his rallies. At one point, he said Harris used artificial intelligence (AI) in a photo to increase the size of the crowd at a rally in Detroit.

Referring to a photo taken at that meeting, Trump wrote on social media in August: “Did anyone notice Kamala CHEATING at the airport? There was no one on the plane, and she ‘AI’d it, showing a huge ‘crowd’. of so-called followers, BUT THEY DON’T EXIST!”

The former president also said the large crowd at Harris’ rally was “fake,” adding, “She should be disqualified because creating a fake image is ELECTION INTERFERENCE.” Anyone who does that will cheat everywhere!’

A Harris campaign official said Newsweek at the time: “I can confirm that the photo was taken by Harris campaign staff and was not altered in any way by AI.”
