Epic Games Store New Free Game has a user review score of 91

Epic Games Store only has one new free game this week, compared to the two free games offered last week. That said, according to user reviews, the new free Epic Games Store game is great. The game in question has amassed nearly 20,000 user reviews on Steam since its release, and 91 percent of these reviews are positive, giving the game a “Very Positive” rating, the second highest rating a game can receive on Steam. However, on Steam the game costs $13.99. It’s now free on the Epic Games Store.

This deal is valid until November 28, or for a week, and until next Thursday. After this, it will be replaced by a new free download. However, once redeemed, the game can be kept free forever for Epic Games Store users. As for an EGS account, it is free and easy to create.

As for the game, it’s the 2016 release of Beholder from Warm Lamp Games and Alawar. Upon release, the strategy-adventure game reached a 75 on Metacritic, a respectable score, but a bit low according to the user reviews for the game. In 2018 and 2022, it received a sequel and a third game, Beholder 2 and Beholder 3 respectively. However, neither of these games are free through the Epic Games Store.

“Welcome to a grim dystopian future. A totalitarian state controls every aspect of private and public life. Laws are oppressive. The supervision is total. Privacy is dead. You are the state-appointed manager of an apartment complex. Your daily routine involves making the building a good place for tenants, who come and go. However, that’s just a facade that hides your real mission…’

The official description of the game continues: “Your main task is to secretly watch your tenants and eavesdrop on their conversations. You must bug their apartments while they are away, search their belongings for anything that could threaten the authority of the state, and profile them to your superiors. You must also report to the authorities anyone who is capable of violating the laws or plotting subversive activities against the state.”

Those who decide to check out Beholder now that it’s a free download on the Epic Games Store can expect a game to last around six to 10 hours, depending on how much side content there is. However, a complete run of the game will take closer to 20 hours.
