Equipment failure causes temporary power outage in Reno | Fire watch

Reno Fire says a faulty transformer led to a arcing power line that caused a small fire and power outage early Tuesday evening.

The fire was less than an acre in size and was fully contained a short time later and power was restored to affected customers.

According to the fire department, no one was injured and no buildings were damaged.

An equipment failure led to a brief fire and power outages for local NV Energy customers in Reno this evening.

The equipment that failed was located at the intersection of N McCarran Boulevard and Northtowne Lane.

An outage report on the NV Energie website shows that 288 customers are without power after the outage.
