Friday the 13th is one of the most enduring horror franchises in history.

The franchise centers on Jason Voorhees, a boy thought to have drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to negligent camp counselors, who seemingly came back to life to get revenge.

After launching in 1980, the series has spawned more than a dozen films, novels and comic books, and the hockey-masked killer is now one of the most iconic villains in horror history.

The franchise has unfortunately been through legal hell lately due to ownership disputes, so there hasn’t been a new addition to the film saga since the 2009 reboot. However, there are signs of new projects in the works, including a prequel TV series.
