MINNEAPOLIS — Monday is the NEXT day for a weather alert in Minnesota due to extreme heat and the chance of severe storms later in the day.

An extreme heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. for southeastern and southcentral Minnesota. High temperatures in the Twin Cities will reach 90 degrees and the heat index will be above 100. It will also be very humid.

There will be two storms Monday night. The first will arrive in the west around 7:00 PM and will move toward the Twin Cities over the next few hours. Then there will be another wave during the night hours.

Large hail and damaging winds are the biggest concerns, and a tornado cannot be ruled out. Heavy rains could also lead to flash flooding.

Temperatures will cool down on Tuesday, after which the rest of the week temperatures will be around 27 and 26 degrees Celsius.

There may be some showers on Thursday, but otherwise it seems dry.

Labor Day weekend is expected to be pleasant for outdoor activities, with highs around 70 degrees.
