Chicago heat records could be broken in coming days – NBC Chicago

The Chicago area could see record temperatures in the coming days as a high pressure system lingers over the Midwest for several days.

According to the National Weather Service, a heat warning is in effect for the Chicago area on Monday, and an extreme heat warning is in effect for Tuesday.

According to forecast models, temperatures could exceed 38 degrees Celsius on both days, with highs reaching 37 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Wednesday will cool down a bit, but the temperature will slowly drop. Temperatures will remain above 27 degrees Celsius for a few days.

As for weather records, Monday and Tuesday both seem to be the dates when the numbers could drop. According to the National Weather Service, the record high temperature for both Monday and Tuesday in the city of Chicago is 97 degrees, with both those numbers set in the summer of 1973.

Another record that could fall is the record for the warmest low temperature. That record is 77 degrees for Monday, which was also set in 1973. Tuesday’s record is 78 degrees, which was set in 2020.
