The United States was back in the F1 spotlight in October after the sport was on the sidelines for almost four weeks.

The Circuit of The Americas in Texas hosted the 2024 American Grand Prix and it started in ominous fashion, as Red Bull’s upgrades gave Max Verstappen a dominant sprint race victory – his first F1 victory of any kind in 112 days.

But that pace did not carry over into the Grand Prix sessions.

Lando Norris delivered a stunning lap in an aborted Q3 to claim pole for McLaren, before Ferrari took the race by storm. Charles Leclerc took his third win of the year, with departing teammate Carlos Sainz just behind.

The rest of the fun was saved for Norris and Verstappen, whose lengthy sparring ended with Norris’ late overtake on the Dutchman as both cars breached the track limits.

Verstappen received a warning, Norris received a five-second time penalty for not giving back the position and it was Red Bull who celebrated the last podium place.
