Five people were shot along Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn as festivities for the West Indian American Carnival Parade took place, according to government officials.

The NYPD confirms that five people suffered gunshot wounds. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

According to the FDNY, three of the five victims suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
