Former Clemson Wideout Dies

A former Clemson Tiger has died.

Former wide receiver Diondre Overton, who played for the Tigers from 2016-19, has died. He was just 26 years old.

Out of Page High School, in Greensboro, NC, Overton was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school and joined the Tigers as a member of the 2016 recruiting class. He was also a member of the Tigers’ 2016 and 2018 national title teams.

During his four-year career, he had 52 catches for 777 yards, with seven touchdowns in 51 games (five starts). In 2019, he was voted permanent team captain, was named Academic All-ACC, and was a member of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. He was also selected to the All-ACC Honor Roll twice.

After Clemson, Overton played in the CFL, UFL, European Football League and USFL. In January, he was selected by the Memphis Showboats in the USFL Dispersal Draft.
