‘Get Up’ Blames Saquon Barkley, Not Play Call, For Eagles’ Loss to Falcons

Saqon Barkley dropped a crucial pass in the closing stages of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. The drop stopped the clock and gave the Falcons more than enough time to drive down the field, score a touchdown and win the game on a long extra point.

While the play call was the first thing people were asking about, Barkley’s inability to catch the ball is just as big a story. Barkley took responsibility for the loss and this morning on Stand upDan Graziano and Mike Greenberg agreed with him.

“It worked,” Dan Graziano said. “I thought it was a great play call. The running back’s got to catch the ball. You go into free agency, sign this guy to a monster contract, outbid other teams for him. I’ve been hearing for six months that this guy is going to be the difference between a team going to the Super Bowl and not. He just cost them the game. A big game! That head-to-head loss could be a big deal for them, right? If you’re talking about playoff seeding in the future. He’s got to come up big in that situation and he didn’t.

As brutal as the takedown was, Mike Greenberg took it a step further by saying he would have caught the ball Barkley dropped.

As Jeff Saturday said, “Now we’ve lost control.”

Barkley better turn it around quickly, because the booing from the Philadelphia fans will only make the reaction more intense.
