Goldberg says he doesn’t consider himself retired

Goldberg believes that wrestlers are not truly retired until they die.

The WWE Hall of Famer has not wrestled since a clash with Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022. He was reportedly interested in a farewell bout with Sting in Israel, but that never happened.

Goldberg recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet and was asked if he is retired from wrestling. The former WCW Champion revealed that he doesn’t think a wrestler is retired until he’s dead, and feels like he was forced to retire by the WWE.

While he doesn’t consider himself retired, Goldberg did note that he’s lost 30 pounds and doesn’t spend as much time in the gym anymore, as he’s busy supporting his son’s dream of playing football and baseball in college.

“You know, if you’ve been a wrestler at some point in your life, I don’t think you’re retired until you’re dead. I mean, I don’t know, I was kind of forced to retire. I don’t want to think that I’m retired in any way. Whether it’s from working, wrestling or whatever.”

“I’ve been kind of hiding out here at the ranch for the last four or five years. I’ve put 100 percent of my time, effort and emotion into our son, Gage. I’ve tried to prepare him for his journey to college because it’s such a transitional time in a child’s life.”

Goldberg: I’ve lost 30 pounds in five years

Goldberg continued, revealing that he lost 30 pounds while helping his son grow taller, even losing access to his own gym.

However, he indicates that this is what it is meant for and that he spends all his time helping his son realize his dreams.

“Yeah, I’ve been on the shelf a little bit. The example I can give people is when Wanda’s cooking dinner and it’s steak night, we have six steaks to eat, she gets one, I get one, and Gage gets what’s left, which is four.”

“While I’m eating my one, if he eats his four and he looks hungry, I’ll cut mine in half and give it to him. So I’ve probably lost 30 pounds in five years. I haven’t been able to go to the gym as much. He’s always here with his buddies and they’re doing their thing. But that’s what this is for.”
