Golden Knights announce injury update regarding Mark Stone

Over the weekend, the Vegas Golden Knights provided an update on the status of captain Mark Stone.

On Friday, the team officially announced that Stone will perform daily in the future. In a corresponding move, the team also recalled Jonas Rondbjerg from AHL Henderson.

During a press conference on Sunday evening, head coach Bruce Cassidy provided some more information about the situation.

“(Mark Stone) nothing new,” Cassidy said. “Not practiced. Don’t expect him to play tomorrow. We will continue to call him daily until I hear otherwise from the training staff.”

Cassidy’s update wasn’t the most encouraging for Golden Knights fans. Judging by the way he sounded, it’s possible Stone is out of circulation for a while, and “daily” is just a generic label.

Stone is currently second on the team with 21 points, behind only Jack Eichel. With Vegas playing seven of their next nine games – which they have struggled to do so far this season – Stone being out for an extended period would be an especially tough blow to the team.

The Golden Knights return to action on Monday night when they host the Carolina Hurricanes at T-Mobile Arena.
