Lamine Yamal is ready for a key role for Barcelona in tomorrow’s El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.

La Blaugrana arrive in the Spanish capital as the current La Liga leaders with a three-point lead over their old rivals.

Their 17-year-old starlet played in all three El Clasico matches during his breakthrough 2023/24 season, including a start in Madrid in April.

However, as his development continues, he will be crucial for the visitors, who are aiming for a first away win in the El Clásico competition since 2022.

Before the match, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick spoke about Lamine Yamal’s lasting influence on his team despite his young age.

Flick praised his modest improvements and his willingness to defend as part of the overall team effort, as seen in the midweek 4–1 UEFA Champions League victory against Bayern Munich.

“Before the match against Bayern Munich I wanted different things from him. The most important thing was to push Alphonso Davies from defense into midfield, because when he starts attacking we know how important he is,” said Mundo Deportivo.

“Lamine Yamal is a fantastic player, you also saw that against Bayern. The Bayern players watched him and kept an eye on him – that’s a great honor. He has more than met the objectives we set ourselves with him.”

Flick was tight-lipped about his starting line-up plans for Real Madrid, but the German coach was able to stick with an unchanged team after their victory over his old team.
