Harvey Weinstein’s medical problems are getting worse as he has now been diagnosed with leukemia, TMZ has confirmed.

The disgraced Hollywood film producer has chronic myelogenous leukemia, a form of cancer that begins in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow, according to the American Cancer Society.

Weinstein’s representative Judah Engelmayerand his lawyer, Arthur Aidaladeclined to discuss the new diagnosis, but they issued a joint statement… “Craig Rothfeld, Mr. Weinstein’s authorized healthcare legal representative in New York State, expresses his deep dismay at the speculation surrounding the medical condition of the Mr. Weinstein.”

They further said… “It is both disturbing and unacceptable that such private and confidential health matters have become a subject of public discussion and speculation. Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein’s privacy, we will not be commenting further.”

NBC was first to report the news, adding that Weinstein was receiving treatment for the disease at Rikers Island. Weinstein is being held at the prison complex pending a retrial in his sexual assault case in New York.

As we reported, his Manhattan case was overturned on appeal following his 2020 conviction for raping an aspiring actress and sexually assaulting a production assistant. The judge sentenced him to 23 years in prison.

But Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg decided to retry the two accusers’ cases and even announced a new indictment in September, accusing Weinstein of a third sexual assault on a woman in a Lower Manhattan hotel.

Additionally, in 2022, Weinstein was convicted of raping a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel and was sentenced to 16 years in prison in California. He has also faced a mountain of civil lawsuits alleging rape and sexual assault.

In addition to his legal troubles, Weinstein has dealt with a litany of health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis and fluid in his heart and lungs.

In September, he was rushed to hospital to undergo major heart surgery after feeling chest pains in prison. During another hospital visit, he contracted COVID-19 and double pneumonia, requiring further medical care.
