HALL COUNTY, Nebraska — Husker Harvest Days is an annual food drive.

Karen Rathke, president of Heartland United Way, spoke to NTV about the issue.

This is Heartland United Way’s largest campaign of the year.

Karen Rathke said, “This time of year, the food pantry shelves are a little empty. The need has grown because of the back-to-school backpack programs.”

According to Heartland United Way, students who need food at home can pick it up at school and bring it with them in their backpack.

When Heartland United Way needs supplies, the people are always willing to help, no matter what the item is.
