Hurricane Francine hits Louisiana. How will it affect Indiana’s weather?

As Hurricane Francine batters the South, Indiana waits to see the storm’s impact as unusually dry conditions continue.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, rain could be on the way, but it is unlikely to be heavy or prolonged, so the drought may not be over yet.

Here’s a look at the weather forecast.

NWS meteorologists reported Wednesday that Hoos residents can expect the following weather conditions.

☁️ Thursday: Increasing cloudiness, with a high near 86 degrees. Light east wind shifting to east-southeast 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

☁️ Thursday evening: 20 percent chance of showers after 02:00. Mostly cloudy, with a minimum temperature around 18 degrees. East wind around 13 km/h.

🌧️ Friday: 30 percent chance of showers, mainly between 8:00 and 14:00. Mostly cloudy, with a maximum temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius. Wind from the east and southeast from 14 to 21 km/h, with gusts up to 35 km/h.

🌧️ Friday evening: 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low near 66. East wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

🌧️ Saturday: 30 percent chance of showers, especially after 14:00. Mostly cloudy, with a maximum temperature of around 28 degrees. Wind from the east and southeast from 13 to 16 km/h, with gusts up to 29 km/h.

🌧️ Saturday evening: Chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 AM, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. East southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Burning bans are in effect in some southern Indiana counties as drought conditions continue.

According to USA TODAY reporting, Hurricane Francine made landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday. It is now a Category 2 hurricane.
