Blue Bloods Fans, the end is near. The TV program 2024 guided us all through what will be the final chapter of the current form of the Reagan family. While there’s a lot of potential for spin-offs, we don’t know where we’ll see these people again after the finale time. So when I heard that TV legend and series star Tom Selleck’s final scenes gave him a complete connection to his first moment on the long-running law enforcement drama, I have to say it brought a smile to my face.

Of Blue Bloods a member of the class of TV shows ending in 2024the departure of the Reagan family is one that is felt everywhere. But in an interview with TV insiderthe Magnum PI icon revealed that his last day on set was made even more special by the way it mirrored his first day of filming in the role of Frank Reagan. Here’s what Tom Selleck shared about this moment:

My last scene was ironically a family dinner; that was also the first scene I did on the show 15 years ago! I’m not going to tell you everything about the final episode… but the family dinner sort of reunites the Reagan family. Erin’s daughter Nicky was there, as was Jack, Danny’s eldest son. Everyone agreed with me that we should close the set for the family dinner and not abuse it. Most of them had four days left to shoot, but not me.

This kind of symmetry is quite heartening to consider, regardless of whether you have a Blue Bloods fanatic or just a casual viewer. As Tom Selleck and the rest of his TV family prepare for the end, emotions are running high and fans are waiting for any hint as to what might be at stake. While Blue Blood’ potential franchise future has been a topic of discussion with CBS Entertainment’s brass, but unfortunately hasn’t yielded much results.

There is some promising Blue Bloods information mentioned above, as one of the last Reagan family dinners already has some exciting results in store. Sami Gayle’s Nicky had been a regular character until season 10, with some appearances in seasons 11 and 13; but her participation in the final season was never guaranteed. Tony Terracino’s Jack Reagan followed a similar trajectory, as he went from recurring cast member to guest status from seasons 10 through 13.

Although we didn’t see this last supper between Commissioner Frank Reagan and the rest of his associates, we can look back on the very first time Blue Bloods showed what would become a series staple:

It is always a treat to read Tom Selleck looking back fondly on his time in these fourteen seasons, especially in light of the Blue Bloods complaints about cancellation that cast members have spoken out in the general direction of CBS executives. And while it’s not described in so many words, I’d like to think that the final episode of this farewell season will be at this very moment, giving fans a memory worthy of the success of this program, as well as a dish full of leftovers .

For those of you following Blue BloodsBe sure to tune in to CBS on Friday at 10 PM ET to continue your own regular appointment at the Reagan family table.
