What’s going on with San Fran this year?

Lots of injuries. Many missed opportunities. Many heavy losses. And still a lot of talent. Don’t get too comfortable after all of Friday’s injury updates, because this has everything to do with a four-quarter drool-beater.

It appears Brock Purdy will not play on Sunday. How does this affect the defensive game plan?

It doesn’t change anything. No different than San Francisco’s defense without Nick Bosa. The Packers need to be prepared for the 49ers’ best upset. Kyle Shanahan will have his guys ready and the Packers defense still has to deal with Christian McCaffrey, Jauan Jennings, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. With Brandon Allen getting the call, he is a veteran who knows the offense. Coincidentally, Matt LaFleur also knows him, after the two worked together in Los Angeles in 2017.

The 49ers won’t go down easily. To me, they have the best running back duo in the league, and for a team that doesn’t stop the run and hasn’t put much pressure on the QB or created turnovers lately, this is going to be a tough call. I expect Purdy to play and without pressure he is a high completion passer. With the over-under 47½ I take the lead, because I don’t think the pack can stop SF. I expect the Pack offense to have its best performance of the season regardless of who plays for SF.

LaFleur sent the right message to his team earlier this week when he said the Packers fully anticipate Purdy playing. Whether or not Purdy would be there, the Packers’ focus should be on correcting their mistakes from last week and channeling them into playing a more complete game.

For two teams with realistic Super Bowl aspirations, this game will be close and could go either way. But the Packers must prevail. Reasons to believe: 1) Health. While both teams have injury issues, the Niners may have Purdy, Bosa and Williams out. Yes. 2) November football in Lambeau. ‘Nuff said. 3) Winning the close ones has become a thing for this team. As this young team continues to grow, they learn how to perform during the crisis. 4)Christian Watson. GPG!

This will be a huge undertaking for the 49ers. It’s always going to be tough to sled when you’re sitting out six players and waiting to see if two of your starting offensive linemen will be available. However, that’s San Fran’s problem. Green Bay needs to play its game with its roster.

Wes, I’m posting today a day after my right hip was replaced. They let me walk as soon as I could wiggle my toes – great! A Packers win on Sunday will definitely help with my healing process. I really want to see Christian Watson continue his great play. Your comment about him and Jordy earlier this week reminded me of Jordan Love behind center as he faked the run to Josh Jacobs and hit Christian on a post at full speed. Wouldn’t that, along with a win on Sunday, make your day?

Firstly, Spoff and I both wish you a full recovery. Watson is not only a leader in the locker room, but also a focal point of this offense. Getting No. 9 going with an upfield pass could be the key that fully unlocks this attack in the second half. Watson won’t have 150 receiving yards every week, but the threat he poses increases the possibilities for himself and this offense.

I wonder why a WR with Christian Watson’s abilities is so rarely targeted. With the season more than half over, he has just 20 receptions on 31 targets. And he has zero drops. I realize that Love has been injured and missed several games, and that the Pack has a good stable of receivers, and CW can block well, but still feels like his excellent strengths are underutilized. We need his home run qualities.

It’s a fair question that I haven’t quite figured out yet. Watson can run the route tree. We saw last year against Kansas City that he can win as a possession receiver. Jason Vrable said the same thing Thursday when he addressed the media. Vrable discussed how there have been a few instances this year where Watson was open three or four yards, but the ball wasn’t going his way. That’s football. You just have to stay patient and keep winning one-on-one. Watson will do that.

Please teach me here. I’ve noticed that in the first 3/4 of the game, when faced with a third-and-forever, most offenses just surrender and go for a simple play, like a quick slant or bubble screen that probably 5-10 will win. yards, but there is no way to gain the line. Why not at least try to throw something at the field that at least has a chance? Even if it doesn’t connect, you might get a PI or some other defensive foul. Just giving up seems pointless. Is it analysis?

It depends on the game situation. The checkdowns you are referring to are when an offense tries to gain yards back to help turn field position. Converting to third and ten plus is not a high percentage proposition. While it is possible to draw a defensive penalty, you are more likely to play negative yardage on long, developing routes or turn the ball over.

“This season will have plenty of ups and downs after Sunday, regardless of the outcome.” And based on the fact that the calendar shows November 22nd, I think it’s safe to say that the arrival of our mutual December friend is very likely. We’re hoping that just some of the environmental conditions we saw on Thursday night make their way to Lambeau for the two games this week.

The Packers need to own it regardless of the circumstances, but one undisputed factor working in the Packers’ favor is that both San Francisco and Miami are on long road trips — and in the case of the Dolphins, just a short week. That’s not nothing.
