Indianapolis Colts at Minnesota Vikings: Second quarter recap and third quarter discussion

They go into the locker rooms at US Bank Stadium at halftime, and the Minnesota Vikings trail the Indianapolis Colts 7-0.

The Colts had the ball to start the quarter, but quickly punted it away on a three-and-out. The Vikings had a solid drive, but Sam Darnold was sacked by Grover Stewart and fumbled it away, with Kenny Moore picking it up and returning it 33 yards for an Indianapolis touchdown, making the score 7–0 in favor of the visitors.

After the turnover, the Vikings again moved into Indianapolis territory, but the drive stalled and they called on Will Reichard for a 53-yard field goal attempt. And for the first time this year, the rookie missed and pushed the kick wide right, leaving the Vikings scoreless.

The Colts were kind enough to miss a field goal attempt of their own on the ensuing possession, as Matt Gay pushed his own 53-yard attempt wide left to give the Vikings good field position just after the two-minute warning.

Minnesota pushed the ball deep into Colts territory on their two-minute drive, but a sack on Darnold stalled the drive and caused the Vikings to rely on Reichard again. This time Reichard. . I hit him from the right side and he didn’t land well. That left the score at 7-0, where we are at halftime.

The Vikings have been moving the football, but they’ve had some bad plays that have negated all of that. Hopefully they come together in the second half, where they get the ball first.

We’re at halftime at US Bank Stadium, folks, and the Vikings are trailing the Colts 7-0. Come on in and participate in the third quarter of the game!
