The post claimed that the two are returning for a festive theme Home alone sequel that will stream on Disney+ in December 2024. The page also shared a description of the film, saying it would revolve around Kevin McCallister and his mother, who arrive at their family’s remote cabin.

But once they reach the spot, they discover that the rest of their family will reach the hut late because their flight is delayed. The description further stated that Marv and Harry, the antagonists of the original 1990 film, will target the cabin, leading to a confrontation between them and the mother-son duo.

The post has racked up more than 50,000 comments and many fans seemed to have believed it. However, the entire description is fabricated and neither Culkin nor O’Hara reprise their roles in any potential Home alone follow-up. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time this has been the subject of fake news Cabin only has spread online.

In 2023, a fake poster of the film starring Culkin was also posted on Facebook. At the time, the post stated that the film would revolve around a cabin scavenger hunt and would be released on Disney+ on December 18, 2023. The rumor was later debunked.

The Home alone franchise includes six films

The family comedy film series began in 1990 with the release of Home alone, starring Macaulay Culkin as eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, who is accidentally left at home by his family while they go on holiday to France. The film was an enormous success and is considered one of the Hollywood classics.

Culkin then reprized his role in the 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New Yorkwhich marked his final appearance in the franchise. Four more sequels to the film were released in 1997, 2002, 2012 and 2021 respectively, with new actors in each film.

In 2018, there were reports of an R-rated film inspired by Home alone with Culkin in the lead. The film, titled Only stonedwas to be produced by Ryan Reynolds, but the project never materialized.
