Jaguars could see another regime change on Sunday with a loss to Lions

Several sources say changes to the building, including the organization potentially replacing Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke, would not be a surprise. Based on several conversations, while Jaguars staffers are still working, the situation has dawned. A downfall.

If Pederson is out, QB coach Mike McCoy does have head coaching experience and could be the one to step in, having coached the Chargers from 2013 to 2016.

Whether it’s a dramatic coaching move at Pederson, a front office move around Baalke or a complete housecleaning next week after a potential loss to Detroit, those in the building feel like it’s almost inevitable.

Sometimes there is finger pointing at this point in a building, with the staff blaming the coaching, and vice versa. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, with a collective recognition that if things continue as they are, it will be a failure for everyone – and everyone is to blame.

As one source explained, it’s all of us. Everyone has a hand in it.

For the Jaguars, a midseason change wouldn’t be unprecedented.

In late November 2020, GM Dave Caldwell was fired after three seasons of ten consecutive losses, leaving coach Doug Marrone and his staff with the task of closing out the season. Baalke served as interim GM.

In 2021, Khan fired Urban Meyer in less than a year for a disastrous stint, appointing Darrell Bevell as interim coach.

When they face one of the NFL’s best teams with a backup QB on Sunday, many in Jacksonville fear the worst.
