Jared Goff: Every team gets kicked in the mouth, the good ones respond

It’s rare for a quarterback to meet the media after winning a game in which he threw five interceptions, but that’s where Lions quarterback Jared Goff found himself Sunday night.

Goff’s three interceptions in the first half helped the Texans take a 23-7 lead and he threw two more in the second half, but they didn’t result in any points as the Lions defense stood strong by the Texans in the final to exclude. 30 minutes. The Lions scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to post a 26-23 victory in what Goff called a “roller coaster” of a game when speaking to reporters.

Goff also called it a “mental battle” to keep fighting when mistakes are made, saying that “every team gets punched in the mouth and the good ones respond.”

“At the end of the day, I never lost confidence because I felt like I did what I had to do on most of those plays and our defense. really saved us” said Goff. “They really did it all day and the guys stayed with me on offense and I told them, ‘Hey man, I’m doing good. Just hang there. I’m good. I’m going to figure this out, and they stuck with me.”

Other teams will see how the Texans pressured Goff and what that pressure led to, so the Lions will need to tighten up on some things because Sunday night’s formula isn’t a winning formula every week. However, they were able to weather the storm for one night and that is a good sign for their ability to handle the adversity that comes their way later in the season.
