Jay Leno injures his face and breaks his wrist in a fall from a hill

Jay Leno is “all black and blue” after a recent fall injured his face and broke his wrist.

The comedian was staying at a Hampton Inn in Pennsylvania when he decided to eat at a restaurant before his show. He didn’t have a car, so he walked and tried to take a shortcut down a hill that turned out to be steeper than he expected. He tumbled 20 meters down the hill and hit his head on a rock.

“I broke my wrist, lost my nail on the finger, and then I was all black and blue,” he recalled Inside edition while wearing an eye patch.

Speaking of the eye patch, the first one Tonight Toon The host, 74, also told TMZ, “I fell. Boom, boom, boom. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, hit me in the eye, please.”

Leno said the accident happened just before he was to perform a show at the Yaamava’ Casino in Southern California. Apparently the show must go on, as Leno waited until after his performance before going to the hospital to seek medical attention.

Not that he’s too worried. When Inside edition asked Leno if he would be able to see again, and he said, “It’ll be fine, I’m not worried about it.” He echoed similar sentiments to TMZ when that outlet asked how he was “keeping up” with the obvious injuries. “I’m holding up fine, I’m here talking to you,” he said.

The fall from the hill is the latest in a series of injuries in recent years for the comedian. When TMZ asked about this, he joked, “The great thing about this age is that you don’t learn from your mistakes, you just keep doing the same stupid thing.”

In November 2022, the famous car enthusiast was hospitalized and treated for second- and third-degree burns to his face, chest and hands in a gasoline fire that started while he was working in his garage. From there, Leno spent nine days at the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, California, where he recovered and underwent two skin graft surgeries – one of which involved skin from a human cadaver and the other pig intestine. He also revealed that he refused to take painkillers afterward, insisting that “the pain is a reminder that I’m an idiot!”

Then, a few months later, in January 2023, the comedian revealed in an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal that he had been in a motorcycle accident on January 17 and subsequently required medical attention for several broken bones.

“Last week I got knocked off my bike,” Leno said at the time. “So I have a broken collarbone. I have two broken ribs. I have two cracked kneecaps.’ Leno added that he ended up doing “fine” and — surprise, surprise — still planned to work that weekend.
