Is Jenn Tran Engaged? Is She Single?

The “Bachelorette” finale came nearly two months after the season premiere, and the way Jenn’s search for love ended was uglier than even Bachelor Nation’s most sleuthful online sleuths could have imagined.

Fans were curious as to why Jenn, the franchise’s first Asian American lead, told one of her latest suitors, “I can’t let you propose to me.” That turned out to be far from the most dramatic revelation Tuesday night.

A few months ago, the 26-year-old aspiring physician assistant in Hawaii broke up with Marcus Shoberg, 32, because he was unwilling to express his love for Jenn, saying he “wasn’t giving her what she needed.”

The road was clear for Jenn to ride off into the sunset with 28-year-old Devin Strader. She was ready to take the reins and propose to the Houston trucking company owner.

And then a scratch on the record.

Host Jesse Palmer interrupted the program during the live portion of the show to announce that they would not be showing a happy ending.

In an attempt to understand what had really happened, a sobbing Jenn bravely appeared on stage, explaining that while she had gotten engaged to her last remaining husband in Hawaii, they were no longer together.

Jenn says Devin ended their engagement in a 15-minute phone call

According to Jenn, Devin broke off the engagement during a 15-minute phone call sometime in August, while the new season was airing.

“He basically said he didn’t love me anymore and he didn’t feel the same way about me anymore,” she said, adding that “he denied ever being in love.” As her mother wept in the audience, Jenn said Devin refused to go to couples counseling and “didn’t want to fight for the relationship anymore.”

To loud applause and boos, Devin joined Jenn and Jesse onstage to tell his side of the story: “I let you down, but everything I felt for you was real.” Devin said he had “a lot of doubts” after he got engaged and throughout their two-month engagement.

However, he claimed that he had been honest with Jenn the whole time. When Jenn pushed back, he admitted, “I was unfortunately too late in letting you know.”

Who is Grant Ellis? What You Need to Know About Jenn’s Next Season of ‘Bachelor’

Over the course of 10 episodes, Jenn narrowed her cast of 25 men (plus an ex who showed up midseason) down to just two: Marcus and Devin.

The outcome of Jenn’s reality TV journey was revealed after both men met with Jenn’s family, who were largely concerned about her. Jenn’s mother, Trinh, her aunt Lylan, and brother James questioned Marcus and Devin about their relationships with Jenn, with Trinh being skeptical that her daughter wouldn’t have enough time to fall in love and get engaged.

James was “not so happy,” he told Jesse during the live broadcast, alerting fans that Jenn’s experience did not end happily. Finalists Jeremy Simon and Jonathon Johnson Soliz were also in the studio audience to “support” Jenn, Marcus and Devin, adding to the ominous mood.

Bachelor Nation members eager for a new Bachelorette journey won’t have to wait long; Joan Vassos’ first “Golden Bachelorette” season premieres on September 18. Grant Ellis, who sent Jenn home in episode 6, will be filming his upcoming “Bachelor” season in the coming months.
