Jonathan Bailey reveals healthy link between Wicked and Bridgerton as fans ‘sob’

Jonathan Bailey has revealed the healthy link between Netflix’s Bridgerton and the upcoming Wicked film.

The actor, 36, stars as Elphaba’s love interest Fiyero Tigelaar in Wicked and plays Lord Anthony in Bridgerton.

And in both the musical and the hit series, Jonathan revealed he was accompanied by the exact same horse, named Jack.

Revealing the unique connection between the two, Jonathan said he insisted that Wicked director Jon M. Chu choose the same horse he rode in Bridgerton.

He said: ‘I went to see Jon Chu (the director) before we started filming and I said to him “I think I know who the horse is” and he said “What do you mean?”.

‘And I thought, ‘It’s Jack, the horse I rode in Bridgerton, who I had a great relationship with.’

‘People say don’t work with children and animals, but if it’s Jack I’d say take the job. He’s a legend.’

And fans are obsessed with the comparison, with some admitting they were ‘sobbing’ over the news.

Some wrote: ‘that’s actually sick’, ‘whaaat that’s so sweet’, ‘I like this so much’.

Jonathan arrives on horseback in his grand entrance in Wicked, which hits theaters on November 22.

The epic fantasy film is based on the 1995 book by Gregory Maguire that was later turned into a three-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical in 2003.

Directed by Jon M. Chu on an eye-popping budget of $145 million, Wicked has been split into two feature films, with the final chapter slated for November 2025.

Critics are already calling Wicked: Part One a “masterpiece” that “pops and enchants the big screen” as audiences are welcomed into the fantastic world of Oz.

The film’s leads, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play the witches Glinda and Elphaba respectively, have received high praise for their breathtaking singing and on-screen chemistry.

The film is about an unlikely friendship that develops between Elphaba (Cynthia) and Glinda (Ariana), two clashing witches in the magical land of Oz.

Elphaba is wrongly cast as an evil witch as she tries to expose the fraudulent, corrupt wizard who rules the land.

Wicked is the origin story of “a green-skinned woman who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West,” and serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz.

The story delves into the past friendship between the characters Elphaba and Glinda, many years before Dorothy’s arrival.

The cast also includes Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James and Peter Dinklage.

Wicked: Part One hits theaters on November 22, with the sequel, Wicked: Part Two, following the following year and premiering on November 21, 2025.
