KLAQ Halloween parade, carnival, haunted houses

It’s Halloween! Even though October 31st falls on a Thursday, there are plenty of ways to celebrate: get some free candy, play games and attend the annual KLAQ Halloween Parade.

Across the city, the Parks and Recreation Department hosts carnivals at four community centers. The free carnivals provide families with a safe and festive environment with popping balloons, music, carnival games, sweets and treats. Families are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes and join in the fun.

Dave & Busters offer a great deal including candy, games and more. Bassett Place also offers safe trick-or-treating indoors. And La Nube offers free admission for children with paid admission for adults.

If you want to get scared, there are some professional haunted houses open, as well as some created by El Pasoans who like to decorate and hand out candy.

KLAQ Halloween Parade

This will be the 39th annual Halloween parade for radio station KLAQ-95.5. This year’s theme is the 2019 release, Midsommar, starting Thursday, October 31 at 3:30 PM in Album Park. The parade route runs west on Album Street to Cork Drive, left on Cork Drive to Daphne Court, west on Daphne Court to Fir Street, south to Bermuda Drive, left on Bermuda Drive and east to Zanzibar Road, north to Album Street and back to the park.

Afterwards, Scotsdale Baptist Church will hold a Trunk or Treat at 10015 Lockerbie Ave. on Thursday, October 31st from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The event is free and includes snacks, candy, games and more. The gates open at the KLAQ Halloween Parade, which runs through Album (Eastwood) Park.

Carnivals are held in Parks and Recreation

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to celebrate Halloween at the annual Halloween Carnivals, taking place on Thursday, October 31 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at various recreation and community centers. Admission is free.

La Nube lets children in for free on Halloween

La Nube, 201 W. Main Drive, invites families for an evening of spooky science and treats! From 5 p.m., children have free entry to La Nube, while adults must purchase a ticket. Walk-ins are welcome. Sweets will be handed out between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, while supplies last. Fun experiences include Glowing Slime Creation, Monster Coding Maze, Elixir Mixing Station, Mystery Box of Science, and Skeleton Structure Building. Single-day admission tickets cost $18.

Celebrate Halloween at Dave & Busters

Dave & Busters is offering families a great time from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 31 at 6101 Gateway Blvd. W. Suite 2006. Each $10 ticket includes two companions, a $15 Power Card with unlimited video play, entry into a costume contest with a chance to win free games for a year, a candy scavenger hunt, trick-or-treating -play in store treat and more. The first 25 to purchase tickets will score a free Halloween swag bag.

Trick or Treat at Bassett Place

El Paso families are invited to celebrate Halloween at Bassett Place’s annual Trick or Treat event, beginning Thursday, October 31 at 4:30 PM at 6101 Gateway Blvd. West.

Los Alio Farm brings Pumpkin Patch to the East Side

Los Alio Farm in La Union has created a Pumpkin Patch for October at their new business, JumboPark, 11180 Rojas Drive. The bounce house park has an outdoor pumpkin patch with a petting zoo, a barrel train, a pumpkin carving and sale and a corn maze, daily from 11am to 9pm, through November 3.

San Pablo Lutheran Church hosts the fall festival

San Pablo Lutheran Church will host the Fall Festival on Thursday, October 31 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at 301 S. Schutz Drive. The festival includes sweets, games and food. Free admission.

El Paso Community College hosts Halloween event

El Paso Community College will host a friendly, spooky carnival on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northwest Campus, 6701 S. Desert Blvd., Building A, Flexitorium.

Haunted house in Socorro

In the heart of Socorro, amid a pecan grove, the Grove Haunted House awaits. Dare to venture through the spooky trees at 10612 Horn Circle on Thursday, October 31 from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The cost is $20.

Spooky carnival on Chandelier Road

The family at 425 Chandelier Road will have to pass a series of scary clowns before the kids can get their treats. Come if you dare on Thursday, October 31 from 5:30 PM to 9:45 PM.

KLAQ Haunted houses of terror

Most El Pasoans are familiar with KLAQ Haunted Houses of Terror, open through Saturday, November 2, at 13900 Montana Ave. Expect to walk or run through 13 terror chambers.

Opening hours: Thursday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 7:00 PM to midnight and Sunday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Costs: tickets at the door €25. Students receive a $5 discount on Thursdays with a valid school ID. Information: spookhuissofterror.com

Shoppes at Solana houses Murder House

The Shoppes at Solana will have a Murder House themed haunted house in the former theater throughout the month of October. The house uses strobe lights and fog to create the backdrop for a terrifying circus-themed nightmare.

It opens at 6pm on Thursday, October 31 at 750 Sunland Park Drive. General admission tickets, including service fees, cost $26.50 and are available online at www.ticketleap.events. Information: 915-502-3968.
