The Lakers and Warriors will grace the entertainment capital of the world when they face off for the first time in Las Vegas on Tuesday. This will be the first of two times these two teams will see each other this week.

After earning their first preseason win against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Lakers look to continue building momentum ahead of the regular season, which begins exactly one week after Tuesday.

Considering the Lakers and Warriors face each other four times in the regular season – including once on Christmas Day – Tuesday’s game will be the perfect opportunity to see how the purple and gold stack up against this new Warriors- team.

The Warriors are always an interesting opponent to use as a benchmark because they play a certain brand of basketball that requires a certain kind of defensive scheme to beat them. This will be the first time we’ll see how JJ Redick and his staff game plan against Stephen Curry and the Warriors’ always fascinating motion attack.

Yes, I know, it’s the preseason, but it’s LeBron James, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green in Las Vegas, so it’s reasonable to think they’ll put on a show, at least for the first two quarters.

The Dubs appear to be taking their preseason seriously as they have won their first four games. They are shooting 40% from the three-point line in the preseason, which comes from their well-crafted offensive plays. The question heading into this game is how Los Angeles will contain the Warriors’ offense and whether their own offense is good enough to keep up.

After all, Redick said he wants the Lakers to shoot more threes and play a systematic motion offense. So it would be ideal to see the purple and gold beat the Warriors at their own game.

It will also be nice to see more progress on the Lakers’ side, especially on the rebounding side, where they struggled mightily last season, and on defense. Again, it’s the preseason, but the early results are encouraging as the Lakers rank seventh in the league in rebounds after three games. Hopefully this is an early trend that we see continue into the regular season.

Finally, apart from watching the superstars perform, this game is an opportunity for the young players in the team to come out again. How will Dalton Knecht hold up defensively against a tough attack? Can Quincy Olivari put on a show for the second straight match? Can Jalen Hood-Schifino prove he’s worth targeting for the parent team? Can Bronny James finally have a decent game after a slow start?

We’ll get the answers to all these questions after Tuesday’s game in Las Vegas.

• Jarred Vanderbilt (foot surgery), Christian Wood (knee surgery) and Christian Koloko (not cleared by NBA protocols) will all likely sit out for this game.
• Austin Reaves (sore ankle) was stuck in Thursday’s win over the Bucks and his status remains up in the air for this one again as he is considered a day-to-day win.
• Andrew Wiggins (illness), Draymond Green (rest), Stephen Curry (finger) did not play in their final preseason game against the Detroit Pistons. According to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Wiggins is expected to play against the Lakers. There’s no word yet on the status of Green and Curry.
