Las Cruces emergency crews are responding to weekend flooding in Roswell

The Las Cruces Fire Department sent a five-person Swift Water Rescue Team and a two-person EMS team to Roswell, New Mexico after the flooding was reported over the weekend.

Both teams arrived in Roswell on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Swift Water Rescue Team was deployed and tasked to search problem areas.

The Swift Water Rescue Team consists of Battalion Chief Jeremiah Lay, Lt. Daniel Eckhart, driver/paramedic Nathan Tracey and fire paramedics Juan Joseph “YT” Ytuarte and Tyler Aguirre.

The EMS team includes driver-operator/paramedic James VonSchriltz and Advanced EMT Ariana Reyes.

Both teams are expected to return to Las Cruces no later than Tuesday.

Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, based in Las Cruces, also sent a specialized team to Roswell.

Two people died on Saturday night after rainfall caused serious flooding.
